Green Valley Seeks Accounting Manager

Green Valley Enterprises (GVE) has a position open that is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Accounting Manager supervises and is responsible for overseeing the front office staff to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and protect agency financial information; prepare reports as necessary for managers, the Executive Director, and the Board of Directors.

  •  Maintain all official agency records, including personnel, legal, asset, and bank records in compliance with the records retention policy.

  •  Responsible for the agency’s financial reporting; supports the audit process and the timely filing of IRS 990 and WIDOR 1952 annually.

  •  Responsible for billing accuracy, collections, and processing of discounts available to the agency.

  •  Ensures development of subordinates to enable effective backup of the Accounting Manager position responsibilities.

  •  Monitor receivables and implement collection procedures as indicated.

  •  Supports the agency’s human resource and benefit programs including all benefits/insurance programs (health, dental, vision, life, disability) as well as workers’ comp., FMLA, and COBRA. H:/Per/JD – Office Manager Processes all claims for areas indicted above.

  •  Support regulatory compliance.

  •  Responsible for leading in the annual budget process for your department; as well as meeting projected departmental budget.

  •  Hiring, training developing, and managing staff in your functional area.

  •  Assists with production of all communication vehicles including: agency newsletter, website, social media, brochures and agency materials.

  •  Attend/participate in Board and/or staff meetings as required.

  • Ensures esafety training is completed by both self, as well as, their staff.

  • Seeks ways to share GVE’s services outside the agency.

  •  Other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge

  • Strongly preferred a four year degree in accounting, or three to five years’ experience in increasingly complex business settings. Skills

  •  Use agency systems and tools provided to work effectively and efficiently.

  •  Sound mathematical and reasoning skills.

  •  Works well with others; supports departmental activity objectives.

  •  Prefer accounting experience in a nonprofit organization.

  • Prefer experience with sub minimum wage.

  • Manage multiple priorities.

  •  Effectively direct the work of subordinates.

  •  Interact professionally with coworkers and clients.

  •  Understands the concept of internal customers; configures GL accounts to ensure that the Board and management have effective financial decision-making tools.

  •  Productive and supportive member of team and agency-wide initiatives.

Relationships

Reports to the Executive Director; supervises the receptionist and accounting assistant.
